In motor racing, the idea that a driver's talents merit the accolade 'the greatest driver ever', was in many ways inspired by 3-time Drivers' Championship winner Ayrton Senna. The maverick Brazilian was known for breathtaking speed in qualifying rounds, and phenomenal driving control in bad weather; adverse conditions being commonly considered 'the equaliser' of any technical superiority in vehicles.

Ayrton Senna da Silva, three times World Formula One Champion, was celebrated for his domination of the pole-position, ability to manage wet weather conditions, and ruthless driving tactics. However 1994, his first year with the Williams team, was to forever change the nature of F1 racing.
